Jalapeño Margaritas
As the weather warms and evenings stretch a little longer, cocktails naturally drift toward brighter flavors and a hint of heat. Jalapeños bring a fresh, green spice that pairs beautifully with citrus and tequila, creating a margarita that feels lively and refreshing. This version balances heat, acidity, and sweetness for a cocktail that works just as well for a casual gathering as it does for a slow sunset sip.
Ingredients
2 oz reposado tequila
1 oz Cointreau
1 oz fresh lime juice
½ oz agave nectar
5 slices fresh jalapeño
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro leaves
Instructions
Add the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, agave, jalapeño slices, and cilantro to a cocktail shaker.
Fill the shaker with ice.
Shake well until thoroughly chilled and the jalapeño and cilantro are lightly muddled.
Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice, or serve up if preferred.
Garnish with a jalapeño slice or a sprig of cilantro if desired.
Notes and Variations
For less heat, remove the seeds from the jalapeño slices before shaking.
For more spice, gently muddle the jalapeño before adding ice.
A salted or chili salt rim adds an extra layer of contrast.
This jalapeño margarita is crisp, herbal, and just spicy enough, making it an easy favorite once warmer days arrive.
